I had the best ever stay at Tayahatun Hotel, absolutely wonderful. From the min I arrived, nothing was too much trouble, the staff were amazing, their exceptional hospitality made my stay the best. Bekir sorted my transfer and then gave me a travel card and directions to get around as I had arrived late from the airport and was running late for a tour I'd booked. Brilliant recommendations to everything I needed. It was in a beautiful colourful street, such a gorgeous area and within walking distance to all the main attractions. Gorgeous breakfast. My room was huge for myself as a solo traveller, absolutely perfect and I had free water in the fridge which was a plus in the hot weather. I also met Mustafa, who was on shift later on, and he helped me when I'd fallen while out sightseeing, such a wonderful kind person. I look forward to staying again when I am in Istanbul.

Great location near the ferry, tram, and metro and yet on a fairly quiet street, at least in February. A family-run hotel, all staff members are very friendly and helpful - they aim to please at all times. Although some staff members don't speak English, there is always an English speaker available. We loved the Turkish breakfasts but noticed some guests were sticking with the western-style offerings which in our view was a mistake to miss out on the tasty Turkish food. There are not a lot of western food offerings but I bet they would make some scrambled eggs if you requested it. Nice firm bed and a nice balcony with a table and chairs. There's a small lift for 2 people for those who don't like stairs.

The hotel is very well located to visit all the tourist sites in Istanbul. At the same time, it was quiet and calm, so we could take rest when needed. The tram station is a few minutes' walk away and there is everything you need on the shopping street. The breakfast was good with nice choices of fresh home made salads etc. We spent six nights there and we will keep very good memories of this stay in this family hotel. If we have the chance to return to Istanbul, it will definitely be in this hotel.
